CFD is another simulation software used by the PES team as a key tool in delivering performance optimisation. CFD simulates the interaction of liquids and gases with surfaces defined by boundary conditions. This simulation technique allows the fluid flow around or through any product to be analysed in great detail.
CFD allows the fluid mass flow, velocity, density, temperature, pressure, concentration or any fluid flow property to be calculated throughout a CAD model. The interaction of the fluid with its solid boundaries, such as fluid-dynamic forces and heat transfer rates can also be calculated accurately for use in stress analysis.
CFD is critical tool for the PES design team in delivering flow and aerodynamic efficiency during the design process. CFD has multiple applications and functions across many sectors including
